Using few words, this video projects a nineteenth century worldview
through John Simmons’ eyes, from his youth in Little Compton, RI
to his highly successful business life in Boston, including his vision of the women’s college that bears his name. From the personal artifacts of
John Simmons in the Simmons College Archives, and period images from
Little Compton Historical Society and the Merchant’s House Museum in New York City, viewers are invited to experience the life of a fine family man and farsighted college founder.
